What Was the Most Important M.U.S.C.L.E. Event of 2011?

For the last five years (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and now 2011) there has been a retrospective look at the universe of M.U.S.C.L.E. collecting.

Amazingly the notable yearly trends share the same characteristics – a figure selling for a shocking amount of money, a new Non-Poster figure is discovered, and some positive contributions to the hobby. And this year many of those same trends could be rehashed:

What will 2012 hold for M.U.S.C.L.E. collectors? Probably the same as always – from a general perspective.

A more pragmatic M.U.S.C.L.E. collector perspective would probably expect to see even more custom figures, t-shirts, and M.U.S.C.L.E.-centric offerings for collectors. While there will never be any “new” M.U.S.C.L.E. product there has certainly been a significant increase in availability of better and better M.U.S.C.L.E.-centric offerings. 2011 was probably the best year ever for custom pieces, but 2012 is certainly poised to be even greater.

The increase in content delivery platforms since 2007 has also offered an even faster and more fluid exchange of M.U.S.C.L.E. news and information. In 2007 a M.U.S.C.L.E. collector needed to be deeply entrenched in M.U.S.C.L.E. collecting culture to be knowledgeable. Today even a novice M.U.S.C.L.E. collector has a wealth of news and information being easily delivered directly to them.

No matter the specifics or trends for 2012, hopefully M.U.S.C.L.E. collectors have fun and attempt to have a positive effect on the hobby, community, and fandom of M.U.S.C.L.E.!

    Joe Morrison interview, hands down.

The act of obtaining this exclusive interview was a feat in of itself, but the questions he answered, not to mention the further questions his answers have raised, were the byproduct of what is likely the world’s most dedicated search for truth concerning a concept of which relatively few people are even aware.

This was truly a key milestone in modern M.U.S.C.L.E. fandom.

hands down my vote goes to the joe morrison interview. while the super rare auctions and the satan cross stuff hold a special interest, the fact that we got some info from “behind the scenes” is definitely more noteworthy and especially so since we got never before heard info!

    Morrison interview hands down.

Also the work Muscle Things Customs is doing is perhaps my favorite Muscle trend of 2011.

    Morrison Interview. No contest.
OMFG is awesome, but not M.U.S.C.L.E.
Jason selling his Prism Man for an obscene amount is great for him and big news.
Neither come close to getting all this info from the guy who headed up the M.U.S.C.L.E. line at Mattel. Not even a new SR sculpt would have been able to top that.

    uh…. logic vs. prices… XD

To put in some more detail:

Prices will alwyas be an issue. 2011 saw a bigger explosion than usual, but it’s not “revolutionary,” and it will likely go back again.

OMFG is wonderful, but they aren’t the first mUSCLE-esque minifigures.

The Morrison interview has given us information that we could never have guessed.

The other things are nice, but nowhere near that interview.
