Art 200 – The Earliest M.U.S.C.L.E. Fan Art

When the University of M.U.S.C.L.E. started the goal was to create an absolotuly comprehensive resource for everything M.U.S.C.L.E. related. For the most part that documentation has moved forward, grown, and often led to changes. One of the biggest areas for change has been Art.

Originally Art 300 was going to “feature the wide array of M.U.S.C.L.E. fans and collectors that express their passion for M.U.S.C.L.E. as art.” It had been designed to become the main repository of M.U.S.C.L.E. art; everything from the earliest work of Kevin Mayle on the MPS newsletter to everything happening at the moment – and certainly everything in between.

Because M.U.S.C.L.E. collecting and its community had been so small for so long it seemed possible to document all of its paintings, drawings, and more that had been a part of the rebirth of M.U.S.C.L.E. and the birth the collecting community. However, it was not possible. Looking back it was a comical, absurd goal – but this early art still deserves to be shared and remembered.

The evolution of this website involves an odd combination of more inclusion and more generality mixed with more specificity and more precision. All M.U.S.C.L.E. fan art, regardless of format, is now a part of Art 200. This section highlights some of the most important and well-remembered drawings, paintings, and more from the M.U.S.C.L.E. community (pre 2005).
