Auction Watch #101

Only 99 more Auction Watches until we have something to celebrate again. Be sure to clear your calendars for the week of March 26, 2014 – Auction Watch #200 will be amazing!

Until then, there will still be plenty of interesting auctions. The first auction, M.U.S.C.L.E. men figures Ultimate Buff mWo Legacy Horri-Bull, will be ending incredibly soon (if it already hasn’t ended by the time you read this).

It is a custom figure from Alec (Muscle Things) using the newer Bandai Ultimate Muscle figures. The University of M.U.S.C.L.E. does not really cover Bandai’s attempt to relaunch the M.U.S.C.L.E. brand. Ultimate Muscle is really much more aligned with Kinnikuman.

Regardless of Ultimate Muscle’s place in history there is no arguing with a great, M.U.S.C.L.E.-centric custom figure. Given the wide array of prices custom figures, especially Alec’s, have been demanding it is very difficult to predict a final price.

The final price of the first auction will be $32.50.

The second auction, MUSCLE Men Bootleg 6-pack sealed M.U.S.C.L.E., is one of the two sealed packaged Frankenstein-like Amalgam figure sets discovered by Kyle.

This will be a widely popular item with collectors interested in counterfeit figures. The real question becomes whether the popularity will translate into a higher price. Given that the badly damaged pack of Future Strength figures recently sold for $46 it seems safe to assume the price will surpass that number.

The final price of the second auction will be $65.50.

The third and final auction, Lot of 12 Vintage MUSCLE WARRIORS With The Original Box Very Rare, is not a M.U.S.C.L.E. item. However, for just a minute it looked like a new package of counterfeit figures had been discovered.

Instead it is a box of 6-inch monster/wrestler figures. The look of the figures will certainly appeal to a certain group of collectors, but the box is likely to be appreciated by many more collectors. Having this very cool item show up while searching for M.U.S.C.L.E. items is a welcome happy-accident. Normally M.U.S.C.L.E. searches are polluted by naked G.I. Joe bodies, toy cars, and parts of Lego figures.

With only a $20 opening bid it seems likely that this item will sell. However, having never seen anything like this it is impossible to guess a final value.
