Auction Watch #120

How disappointing. This guy decides to pull his Drunken Master auction and Auction Watch is cut down to three auctions. Luckily the remaining three are still pretty interesting.

The first auction, M.U.S.C.L.E. Men Mito, Announcer Lot With 3 Class A Figures., really is nothing but interesting.

Class A figures are arguably one of the most interesting and confusing areas for collectors. In most other hobbies rarity (real or perceived) instantly translates into a higher price point. However, with M.U.S.C.L.E. figures Class A isn’t an automatic ticket to a higher price. A Class A designation certainly helps the price tag, but the specific sculpt and popularity of that sculpt still play the largest role in the final price (never mind the MRT).

#41, #110, and #134 are not three of the most popular M.U.S.C.L.E. figures. It will be very interesting to see what the final price of the first auction will end up being. The predicted final price of the first auction will be $45.50.

The second auction, M.U.S.C.L.E Men Vintage 1980’s Figures W/Poster-Lot of 60, looks to be an absolutely beautiful color figure poster.

The poster looks to be in such wonderful condition that the figures probably won’t even factor into the bidding. The M.U.S.C.L.E. collectors going after this auction will be solely focused on the poster. Some collectors may even worry that the figures could damage the poster in transit, rather than viewing them as a bonus.

Probably the two best figures in the lot are two counterfeit figures, but even they will be overlooked this time.

The condition of this poster is likely to drive the price much higher than many people would expect. The final price of the second auction will be $124.50

The third auction, WEIRD BALL FLYWEIGHT WRESTLERS-Talbot Toys 1986- M.U.S.C.L.E – On Card-Rare!, is not a M.U.S.C.L.E. auction – but it is certainly a very interesting auction. Weird Ball Wrestlers are something very familiar to M.U.S.C.L.E. collectors. It seems almost impossible that a collector hasn’t ended up with one of these figures in their possession at some point. These figures are often thrown into lots of M.U.S.C.L.E. figures of eBay.

If M.U.S.C.L.E. collecting is a tiny niche hobby, then Weird Ball Wrestlers are an even tinier niche. But seeing a carded example of these figures is a rare treat.

Because a carded 10-pack of Weird Ball Wrestlers is so unusual and unfamiliar a final price will not be predicted. But for a Weird Ball Wrestlers collector that does not own this gem, it might be the perfect time to over spend a little bit.

Drunken Master auction guy told me that he is planning on re-listing at a later date. Ebay said that he removed the auction because it is no longer available.
