Monday Morning M.U.S.C.L.E. Musings #9

M.U.S.C.L.E. Figure #155 (Shyaneruman)
by Professor Terry

This week MMMM focuses on the M.U.S.C.L.E. figure #155 – known in Kinnikuman as Shyaneruman. This is one of my all-time top five favorite figures.

If you’re a fan of the old game Cowboys and Indians, then this guy was your Cowboy and #123 was most likely your Indian. I had a Light Blue #155 and he was one of the jewels in my childhood collection. As an adult collector, he was one of the first figures I wanted in every color – yet the purple Class A figure eluded me on more than one occasion.

First, he was in a lot with a Purple Claw which caused a stir when the seller originally had the auction at $64.95 and then changed it after the fact to $694.95. Bugger the Purple Claw; I wanted the Purple #155!

Second, a private collector sold off his collection of Class A figures but someone else beat me to the Purple #155 he had. It seemed Purple #155 was destined not to be in my collection. After nearly two years of searching, I finally found him hiding in a lot of 50 Purple figures on eBay, starting at $9.99. I prayed no one else would spot this auction for six days and if they did – a bidding war was on their hands! Lucky for me the final price of the lot was $9.99 and I had my Purple #155.

You all will also see a Magenta #155 in the pictures and might be a bit confused. Is it a legit M.U.S.C.L.E.? No.

Is it a custom then? No.

The figure is in fact it’s a very cool Mexican Bootleg which I traded for when I found a lot of Mexican Bootlegs on eBay. The Mexican figure is slightly smaller, a slightly different color than Magenta M.U.S.C.L.E. and he floats on water!

As my mate Mike Wolfe says – I had to have it!
