Mini-torial: Auction Watch #146

I have complained about M.U.S.C.L.E. auctions on eBay many times. I have bellyached that the high prices were hurting the hobby. Of course, those arguments could be dismissed as a bitter old man who wishes it was the “good old days” of M.U.S.C.L.E. collecting.

Maybe it could be both.

But before my…timeout, I was growing frustrated with M.U.S.C.L.E. and eBay. It seemed like the same things were being listed again and again for the same absurd prices. Auction Watch was becoming more and more difficult to write. Epilogue essentially still worked because I only need, at least, one sentence to react to an auction – whether it was good, bad, or something else.

When I saw this auction, Vintage Multi Colored Plastic Muscle Creatures Toys 1.5″ Tall, I decided it might be time to put Auction Watch on hiatus. Auction Watch was originally envisioned as a weekly spotlight on the most interesting M.U.S.C.L.E. auction(s) of the week. I don’t know that Auction Watch can continue as a weekly topic based on the auctions we’re seeing.

Hopefully we’ll start to see more M.U.S.C.L.E. auctions grounded in reality. I don’t need an Alpha Non-Poster figure every week, but I do need to see some rational auctions. A few 40 figure auctions starting at $0.99 are much more fun to talk about than three figures starting at $7.99.

The Monday Musings are cool, maybe they way to go is more of those. I like seeing all the different versions of some of the figures, some of which I didn’t know were out there.
