Epilogue – Week of April 6th

Would you rather have 0% of $1,000,000 or 100% of $5?

I think most people would say the $5 – but only because they don’t want to sound stupid. When I see auctions like this one or this one I think most people would actually choose the 0% and hope for some type of percentage-increase-miracle.

“All it takes is one buyer,” or “I can’t sell it for a loss.” It’s the mantra of these stupid sellers. And make no mistake – its stupidity. We aren’t talking about precious gems. We aren’t talking about art. We’re talking about the modern-day equivalent of little army guys; mass produced and looking exactly the same to 99% of the world.

Don’t believe that it’s stupidity? Take a look at these:

These figures have been for sale, at these prices, since, at least, May 2013. If it’s not stupidity, then it’s insanity – doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

The Red #113 makes this lot worth buying.
Did I say this was a terrible opening bid last week too?
I think the Ro-Gun Robots might be the best part of this lot.
By now I should know the name of these things. (It’s not a M.U.S.C.L.E. thing.)
Nice mixed lot of stuff with a fair price and fair shipping.
Do you think someone will try and snipe this?
Is the seller charging $1.36 per picture?
Stupid? Insane? Both.
Not many people try to keyword SPAM “Japan Rubber.”
84 figures and the price is, as of writing this, pretty good.
Some people think that Satan Cross is “SOOOOO COOOL.”
133 Flesh figures.
“Figures are in great shape…” The rest of the auction description backs off the idea very quickly. The picture doesn’t help the statement either.
Scanning a lot like this gives you two seconds of Non-Poster fun.
The shipping cost hurts, but a great lot of counterfeit figures.
At this point, the best offer the seller will get is to go fuck himself.
I just learned Kmart has a ok clearance toys section. If we didn’t already have this, then I would buy it.

Let’s put one thing out there right now. I love MUSCLEMANIA figures. I doubt there is anyone in the world that loves these figures more than me.

They have an interesting history and a slightly mysterious connection to Kinnikuman and M.U.S.C.L.E., but they are a part of this website because I love them. I didn’t have them as a kid either. My love of them is purely from an inquisitive adult collector.

That’s why when I saw this set of MUSCLEMANIA figures I freaked out. The seller is correct too, this is the “First Time on ebay complete Musclemania sculpt set.”

But why did I freak out? I want to see how much other people love them too.

I hate when people buy an entire set of M.U.S.C.L.E. figures. I believe it takes all the fun out of collecting the figures. But other people argue how great it is and that they want to pay for the convenience. I simply don’t understand that – and this is coming from someone that puts an absolute premium on his time.

So how much are people willing to pay for this convenience for this set? I can’t wait to see. I’ll probably place a bid, but I don’t need to win it. I have all of these figures. Just like M.U.S.C.L.E. figures my passion is no longer in acquiring figures (it hasn’t been for years). My passion is in learning, observing, and trying to understand or decipher the mysteries of the hobbies; both M.U.S.C.L.E. and MUSCLEMANIA.

Remember when nobody could beat AOTW #1? Now there isn’t an asshole that can stay on top of the asshole mountain. Maybe one of these assholes will get on a winning streak?

Don’t forget to vote in the upper right hand corner. Without any further ado, the next AOTW match-up of 2014.

vs.

This gif perfectly sums up my M.U.S.C.L.E. knowledge.

I’m fucking awesome at something most people don’t care about and is utterly useless.

I don’t always have a Video of the Week. It might be the most hit-and-miss part of this hit-and-miss blog. But this week, oh this week, I have a video.

Sadly, it’s NSFW. Maybe you’ve already seen it? It’s the naked lady flipping out at McDonald’s. It’s fucking classic. I’d love to get the full story on this thing. I know it’s going to be drugs, but I’d love for it to be…I don’t know – a bad performance review. Awesome.

The human brain is a strange thing. Maybe that’s too broad. My brain is a strange thing.

I saw the picture below and my first thought, no exaggeration, was, “Gross. She took her clothes out of the dryer and put them on the laundromat floor. Gross.”

My second thought, “She should wash that shit again.”

My third thought, “That’s a hot ass.”

Fourth, “But the clothes are on the floor.”

I’m not a total idiot. I know the picture is staged. My logical self understands all of that information. But there’s a piece of my brain that can’t let the clean clothes on the dirty laundromat floor go.

I think it speaks to a very real piece of my brain. Little things get stuck in there and refuse to leave. It probably applies to M.U.S.C.L.E., relationships, trivia – but there’s no predicting it. I never know what’s going to get stuck. But then I have to choose how to handle it.

If it’s a piece of trivia, then it’s easy. If it’s a song, then I hum it as I walk into work. If my wife did that, then I’d have to fight the instinct to immediately divorce her for such a terrible, gross decision.

My brain is a strange thing.
