Auction Watch #152

It’s a bit of a mystery how the first auction, M.u.s.c.l.e Men Figure 2 Lots, has avoided AOTW status. Perhaps this seller is such an enigma that simply labeling them as an AOTW is too simplistic. For roughly three weeks this seller has been listing this auction.

The auction description states:

Personal child good collection of two complete sets. Counted over 230 each Pink and coloured. Didn’t see doubles. Can’t confirm exact set but were complete before.

That means the per-figure prices of these listing have respectively been $4.30, $3.86, and now $3.65. Those price changes mean that there was a reduction of approximately 10.2% from the first week to the second week and then followed up by an approximately 5.4% reduction (with an average reduction of 7.8%). Based on those numbers, when will this lot become fairly priced? Let’s check the chart:

Just in case you would pay a different price, here is the complete chart.

The second auction, 111 Classic M.U.S.C.L.E. Men Figures, didn’t start at $0.99 but it’s hard to argue with a $35.00 starting bid for 111 Flesh figures – including Satan Cross.

These two vastly auctions highlight an important part about collecting M.U.S.C.L.E. figures. The truly routine will never sell for a truly outrageous price. Sure there is an ebb and flow, but you can’t just force a price.

M.U.S.C.L.E. collectors are willing to pay, but they aren’t stupid. Start at a better than fair price, have something to offer, and M.U.S.C.L.E. collectors will find you and drive the price up.
