Grunt – Front

Objective:
The Infestors are a group of figures from Ironhaus Productions and Luke Harris (Imperfecz). This Grunt is from a very small initial production wave.

The figure is cast in a keshi-like rubber. The coloring is a dark amber brown. Through the thickest parts of the body the amber looks much browner. Through the thinner areas the amber coloring looks almost translucent. The figure has a detailed sculpt and the casting is very clean.

The figure is packaged in a clear bag with a header card featuring original art on both sides. The back of the header card appears to provide some potential images of other Infestors figures.

Subjective:
I feel the need to fight the urge to declare, “I love this figure!”

Back of Header Card

I do love it – but I want other people to understand why I love it some much. This is a figure that mini-figure collectors will need to add to their collection.

The color choice for this “bug” is perfect. No. It is better than perfect. It is inspired. Looking through a Pantone book there are colors that are instantly attractive. Colors that would probably be an easy choice for a mini-figure. The Grunts’ amber-brown was probably not an easy choice. But it was an inspired choice for this figure. The color isn’t just a choice in this figure’s case. Instead the color adds character to the figure.

The sculpt is wonderful too. Each person will probably appreciate different parts of this figure. The antennas are wonderful. The sculpt of the hand is a great choice. But, for me, the back of this figure is amazing. The shell is subtle and perfectly proportioned. I believe this figure succeeds or fails because of the shell. The wrong choices would have doomed it. Something would have felt off or wrong. But it doesn’t. The shell alone insures this figure will be a success.

The remaining Infestors are supposed to be released very soon. A teaser was recently posted by Luke Harris. If the Grunt is any indication, then I’ll be ordering the remaining Infestors sight unseen.

    Humbled by the kind words!

I think in this case “inspired” might be a good choice of words as the color choice on this really was inspired by looking at colors that exist in various roaches. Also, you’re right about the translucent aspect and there’s a reason for that as well. Take this little guy out in the sun for a few, then bring him back into the house. These were loaded with a little solarcolordust.com glow powder.

I am having a hard time not spilling the beans on what’s next for these… but until all the pieces of the puzzle are together, can’t let out much more than what’s already out. You’re also correct about the back of the card.

    Awesome!

Can’t wait to see what is next. These figures really blew me away.
