Future Strength Update

Mellerdrammer

The Future Strength figures are a fascinating component of M.U.S.C.L.E. history. Chris K. (known as dixiebull at LRG) confirms an 11th Future Strength figure which raises a new question, “Is there at least one more sculpt out there?”

In November of 2012 what looked to be a third translucent Future Strength figure was discovered. The figure type appears to match the translucent Yellow Space Eskimo, but appeared to be an entirely new Future Strength sculpt.

Declaring it an official Future Strength figure was difficult, because it had never been documented in the original Future Strength color. Until today.

Chris K. sent in a picture of a lot of Future Strength figures he had purchased.

Original Future Strength Color

At first glance the lot is incredibly humdrum; a lot of seven Future Strength figures. For the handful of Future Strength enthusiasts it is an incredibly exciting lot. The lot contains a Mellerdrammer figure in the original Future Strength color. This absolutely confirms Mellerdrammer as a Future Strength figure.

This confirmation puts the total figure count at the odd number of 11 discovered figures. There is no rule that states an even number of figures needs to be produced. Looking at the breakdown of the 11 figures there are six figures clearly inspired by M.U.S.C.L.E. figures and five, seemingly, original figures. This imbalance provides a valid opportunity to ask, “Is there at least one more sculpt out there?”

Perhaps it has already been discovered, but it has not been documented. If you have any Future Strength figures or packages to add to the archive, then please email a high-resolution picture to the University of M.U.S.C.L.E.. Please take the picture on a white background. Thank you!

UPDATE

I finished this post yesterday. The next day I found a 12th figure. I have named him Bate-Man.

Hopefully people like the name. If you don’t, then try putting “Patrick” in front of the name.

The figure is still for sale on eBay. Now that I have the pictures, I don’t really need the figure. If someone buys the figure (or already has the figure), then I’d love better pictures.

This is why I still enjoy the website. Knowledge is power. The more information that is shared the easier it becomes to make new discoveries.

So the listing was ended; I guess I will have to reach out to the seller or keep checking because I would have bought the lot! Price was high but still. Oh and I mentioned this over on LRG, but I will say it here too. I have had a bootleg of a bootleg version of that 12th future strength this entire time. Just never knew what it was because it is different than both the original versions and the clear yellow. I will get a pic to you of it soon!

    I noticed.

And I agree. The price was a bit high, but I might have bit.

Can’t wait to get the picture!
