Stir Up Saturday – FLAF and Bill

Five years ago there was a strange FLAF submitted. This led me down two different paths.

The first was the figure itself. I have not seen another oddity, like the one to the right, until just recently. It really made me wonder if these two figures are Strong Men or something else.

It also makes me wonder why other people haven’t said, “I have that one!”

I always like to have photographic evidence, but it is usually a positive sign if people remember the figures. Nobody seems to remember these two figures.

The other thing it made me think, “What ever happened to Bill?”

Honestly, it wasn’t just Bill. He just started my wondering. What is happening with various M.U.S.C.L.E. collectors? Many of them I only knew as LRG screen names. I wouldn’t even know how to reach out to them. I know many of them stopped posting on LRG.

I wonder, do they still collect? Do the figures just sit in their basement? Did they get married? Did they have kids? Did they get the shit together? Did it fall apart?

If I am brutally honest with myself I know I don’t genuinely care about the people. Instead I’m sincerely curious about their collecting. I like to pretend that a cool UofM feature could be built out of this curiosity. But I don’t believe a single person would participate. And I don’t blame them.

Still have my collection, about to get married in December (knew she was the one when she bought me G1 Optimus Prime for Christmas, lol), as far as collecting M.U.S.C.L.E., not burned out. Just one thing remains that I wouldn’t mind having, but good luck with that I feel.

    That’s cool. Who are/were you?

Like I said, I only knew many of these disappeared collectors as LRG screen names.

And Bill, that’s great to hear. What’s the one thing you’re looking for?

Thanks, I found someone who can put up with me. 🙂

Highway Hauler, it would be a really neat piece to own that goes along with the story of M.U.S.C.L.E. I think since I’ve been collecting, August 2009, there has only been one on Ebay. I remember someone posted on LRG several years ago one, but the auction had already ended. That auction ended at $850 or so I believe. Didn’t someone mention a while back there are only three or so of these?

Yes, I did. Based on talking to Hauler collectors they had said the number was three.
