Stir Up Saturday – 22 Figures

The 22 figures
I needed 5 years ago.

It is hard to believe five years ago was the first time I posted anything about the final 22 figures I needed for my collection. I think I was still in my very patient, but active, collecting mode.

About six months later I was really changing my approach. I just wanted to finish the guide. Amazingly, and only through the help of great people, I was able to add a few more to my collection.

Today I can confidently say that the collection is a far second to completing the guide. I imagine that sounds cliché or insincere to some people. I can 100% understand that reaction, but it would be 100% wrong.

I have had FAR more fun working on this than I ever did buying figures. And this may have been the best single moment so far.

But it hit me really hard as I started writing this post. I realized some of those most recent figures added to my collection are still in the plastic bags and/or mailers they were shipped in.

Don’t believe me?

I took a picture, which you can see below, and shared it on Instagram.

(Side note, I don’t know why the hidecaption isn’t working. I have it set to true, so it shouldn’t be showing up. I hate that I can’t figure out what is wrong.)

Don’t get me wrong. It would be neat if the final 12 could be added. However I don’t think that’s going to happen for several years.

The M.U.S.C.L.E. prices are just plain stupid right now. Not because the demand is so high, but because the sellers are delusional. They believe the outliers are the norm. It’s just flawed thinking; logic and common sense have been unable to change the flawed thinking.

It won’t last. It never does.

In fact, I am going to guess that we see the bubble burst in two or three years. I’m basing my guess on the figures sitting, unsold, on eBay for two or three years. Technology moves and changes too quickly and we’re seeing those new selling apps on commercials. eBay can’t stay the same and I believe that will force some changes.

It might be a guess. It might just be hopefully daydreaming.
