Epilogue – Week of January 29th

Man. Did M.U.S.C.L.E. figures ever feel more trivial?

Last week I mentioned how the “real world” rarely creeps into the Epilogue. I don’t want it to creep in again, but I have to say that the seven to ten days have been sobering. I guess this happens every time the world seems shitty.

I hope this Epilogue provides you a little escapism. I wouldn’t suggest that anyone pretends the world isn’t happening, but everybody needs to find a few minutes or seconds of happiness and/or fun. I hope the site can give people that.

307 auction listings this week.
16 are from this guy. Wouldn’t one lot have been better?
“No Cosmetic Issues I Can See” Why did this make me laugh?
This is a glorious lot, but the price is garbage.
“Rates ?” Read the auction description too.
I may place a bid for this lot of FLAF’s.
I feel like a Canadian auction without a Class A is like a unicorn without a horn.

Hmmm. Not great.

Am I crazy in thinking we always see a slow down around this time of year?

3,983 BIN listings. How many pages can I last?
$100 still seems stupid to me, but what would be a truly fair price? I’m thinking…$35?
Shouldn’t he know better?
Every time I see a Class B auction like this one I nearly vomit in my own mouth.
Ok, I have to stop.

I made it three pages.

I could rant, but I’m going to defer to this. It might be easier for me to post this once a year.

And on that note, I’m sure some people were curious about my thoughts regarding Purple #107 in Auction Watch #202. I’m sure I had the same reaction that you did. It’s total bullshit. The duck idiom carries right over and continues on.

Again, I was going to rant. But I’ve said most of it before. And it even looped back to Jimmy’s post. Seems like the cycle keeps going round and round.

I didn’t really get to the level of fun I was hoping for, but, if you’re still reading, then I probably provided a little distraction. I can settle for that.

Here’s some random stuff to wrap this distraction up.

Speaking of ducks, I’m a sucker for a good Duck Hunt gif.

Don’t believe me? I’ve used this one twice on the site. If you’re bored, then try and find both times.

Keeping with the notion of pairs, here are a pair of pictures from Instagram that I totally dug this week. Have you seen them?

The second picture needs its quote, “I typed Energy by Operation Ivy and honestly could not think of a single other album by anyone for at least five minutes.”

I think that article could be about me.

I wish I could have kept the caption, but I haven’t figured out how to embed, resize, and keep the caption. I’ve only managed two of the three. Any suggestions?

One last M.U.S.C.L.E. thing to mention. I received the picture below from Marcus this week. He asked if it was an Error figure. What do you think?

The cutest, tiniest kind of error.

I told him, technically, it was certainly an error. However, I told him #32 seems to be prone to tiny markings on the stomach. A #32 figure in Auction Watch #179 had the exact same mark. I don’t know that I would consider all these small imperfections to be significant enough for documenting. Almost all M.U.S.C.L.E. figures have some minor injection molding issues. I would consider this error to be one of these small imperfections. Mattel certainly wouldn’t have scrapped a figure for an error like this one. Again, what do you guys think?

And finally, the perfect ending for the Epilogue.

Yeah. That felt right.
