Epilogue – Week of July 1st

The current results of Peter’s Terri-Bull figure is nothing short of enlightening to me. I say that fully recognizing the statement boarders on hyperbole.

Whatever the result, I anticipated collectors to fully agree. These results show that M.U.S.C.L.E. collectors are perplexed.

I have never looked for this type of error/warp/mistake. Does anyone else have a figure like this?

If we can’t find another comparable example, then Peter may have a one-of-a-kind mistake.

LRG is celebrating its 16th Year Anniversary.

I love that place – as much as you can love a message board. If I’m engaged in the M.U.S.C.L.E. hobby, then LRG is a big part of my engagement. For Jon’s shepherding of the site, there isn’t a big enough thank you available.

I was probably about 24 years old when I joined LRG. I am 40 years old today. Wow. I could go on and on about all that has happened during that time. I won’t. There are really three things that standout above everything else as I look back: (1) the friends and good acquaintances that I have made; (2) certain threads and topics that still make me smile (e.g., the Million M.U.S.C.L.E thread, the Movie Poll, and the “I’m leaving!” thread; and (3) that people did bad things to each other.

I may have been a mean, rude, asshole from time to time, but I can’t dream of doing things that actually hurt other people. Lying, cheating stealing; I am forever amazed people would actually do those things to fellow collectors.

“The hideousness of that foot will haunt my dreams forever.”
Just start it at $0.99.
You too.
“SOME ARE HARD TO FIND” Wrong.
“Easily a $500+ endeavor…” Only if you’re a fucking idiot.
Rather large group from the Blackfoot tribe.
Nice little lot. (But don’t hope you’re scoring a Non-Poster figure. It’s keshi.)
The MUSCLEMANIA figures are the best part of this lot.
Does anybody want a #153 4-pack that badly?
I’d rather buy this one – but not at that price.
I think it’s the price mixed with the wrong figure number that makes me angry.

The AOTW Fatal-Four Way Battle of the Champions match-up had it’s first winner. All of the contenders were worthy, but I wouldn’t have bet on them being the winner. I guess that’s why I don’t gamble.

As I was looking through eBay it was getting harder to pick the combatants. I was fearful of picking a former combatant. But who fucking cares? I’m doing my best to pick four worthy nominees; repeats might happen from time to time.

This time I selected four individual figure listings. I selected them all for the same reason, even though the prices are slightly different. All of these figures are comically priced, but which one is the worst?

Remember to cast your vote and crown this week’s AOTW. Here are the four combatants:

Cheez Balls have been mentioned twice on this website. A valid argument could be made that it was only once, because the second appearance was as a part of a SUS. Let’s not get lost in the weeds.

I saw that Cheez Balls will be on sale again. I don’t know how I feel about it. Initially I thought, “Cool! I haven’t had these in forever.”

I only have extremely positive memories associated with these things. I remember the things around these Cheez Balls more than the taste of the Cheez Balls. I can close my eyes and be transported back to my Grandparents house. It’s Christmas and I’ve just opened my new R2. Will eating a cheesy snack make that memory better or worse? Maybe I’ll just buy it for the vintage packaging.

I have some weird stuff in my collection, having an empty Cheez Balls container would jump quickly to the top of the list. Do you think anyone has ever thought about, or written about, Cheez Balls as much as I have today?

Welcome to the continually revamping installment of “Damn the torpedoes!

vs.

Racer #1 dropped his price with a 10% sale. Why bother after 2 years, 10 months, and 23 days?

Racer #2 quit on his #167 figure, but it looks like he might be interested in providing a substitute racer. For, at least, the fourth time the racer is claiming “ON SALE THIS WEEK ONLY!!!” and “ONE TIME CHANCE.”

What is it called if you knowingly state something untrue?

Being relatively new to ‘collecting’ M.U.S.C.L.E., I’ve found the Claw prices interesting. In just the month or since I started going after a poster set, I’ve seen it marked anywhere from $6 to $30 on Ebay. While it was one of my favorite figures as a kid (I owned a…handful…of them), the price volatility surprises me. I had hoped to find some better prices at local used toy stores. Alas, they could make the Ebay posters blush.
