Epilogue – Week of April 7th

We were on Spring Break last week. It was awesome. Coming back to Detroit seemed insane. Everybody was ready to move to Florida. They were all so ready that I got pushback when I wasn’t in 100% complete agreement. My gut says living in Florida is much different than vacationing for a week.

When we got home the weather was surprisingly beautiful. The boys helped unload and unpack, and then went out side to shoot baskets.

I was busy doing whatever you do when you return from a trip. Suddenly I heard the familiar, excited screams of, “Dad! Dad! Dad, you’ve got to see this!”

My oldest had bottle flipped and landed on the basketball hoop. I was pretty impressed and asked, “Whoa, how many tries did it take?”

I was thinking he would say ten or maybe a few more. Instead, the energy dropped from his voice and he somberly said, “Dad, it took so many tries.”

I couldn’t help but laugh at the most honest answer ever given.

If you’re waiting for eBay links, then you’re going to be pretty bummed. I won’t repeat myself.

The last Epilogue featured a “Buyer’s Edition” of AOTW. I’m going to consider it a massive failure because there were only three votes. If I’m trying to delude myself, then I’d say the lack of voting was due to a polling problem. I think vilifying buyers is much less fun than vilifying sellers. And finding sellers is far easier than finding buyers. Here are the four new combatants.

The AOTW #1 initially caught my attention with the hilarious “Mildly Rare” declaration in the auction title. When I saw the $36 BIN for a Class C figure I knew this was a potential champion.

The AOTW #2 doesn’t have the same high BIN, but it does have an absurd $14.99 BIN for two dirty figures.

I’ve heard people argue that Flesh M.U.S.C.L.E. figures are worth more than the $0.50 to $1 often suggested by long-time collectors. Would anyone ever defend the AOTW #3? They have knowingly listed this Class C figure with a $14.70 BIN. Wow.

When I originally saw the AOTW #4 I thought, “Wait. I’ve picked this guy before.” But I was wrong. That was a different asshole. What are the chances there are two, so-similar assholes? Both asked over $30 for a $0.50 figure. This asshole is asking even more with her $36 BIN.

Since discovering that our ULTIMATE AOTW Battle of the Champions Fatal-Four Way Winner #1 is still trying to sell her empty box, I like to check in each week.

Eleven weeks ago it had dropped down to $160. Ten weeks ago the price was $149. She sat firm for a period at $145. Five weeks ago it dropped to $139 and very recently it was dropped to $135. Wow.

This is the level-of-asshole it takes to be an ULTIMATE champion. Amazing. She’s one of the greats.

The previous AOTW wasn’t a failure in that no one wanted to vote for it! I was ready to, but there was some error and no voting mechanism was displayed for me. I tried refreshing the page, and still nothing. I would guess that others faced the same problem. You can run more polls of the same nature!
