In 2007 and then again in 2008 Nathan’s M.U.S.C.L.E. Page presented a “Year in Review” feature. Nathan’s M.U.S.C.L.E. Page was unable to put together a list this year, so the task has been given to the University of M.U.S.C.L.E.
It is incredibly difficult to select what is the biggest singular event for M.U.S.C.L.E. in 2009. The selection criteria could include multiple things, but how would each part be weighted? For example, if an event creates lots of discussion is that “bigger” than a less discussed but positive addition to the M.U.S.C.L.E. community?
Instead of the University of M.U.S.C.L.E. deciding on the biggest event, the decision is left in the hands of the M.U.S.C.L.E. community. Several memorable M.U.S.C.L.E. events from 2009 are listed below as potential choices. Your choice, with supporting rationale, should be posted in the Comments section below.
If you feel that a big event was omitted, then please email a hyperlink documenting the event and rationale why it should be included to the University of M.U.S.C.L.E., and it will be added to the list of choices.
Thank you all for your participation. Regardless of the eventual winner, 2009 looks to have been a memorable year for M.U.S.C.L.E. collectors. Hopefully 2010 will be even better with more interesting discoveries and more memorable events.

i would say the biggest event is definitely the discovery of a new super rare muscle! btw it is now shown on the current owners website…

Here’s my opinion on the choices.
#1 – Interesting find but not the biggest event of the year.
#2 – It would be in the running if we were sure it was legit. But this is Alex we are talking about, so it is most likely a fake bidder.
#3 – Almost got my vote. Came in 2nd in my ranking because of another more notable event on this list.
#4 – Yes, THIS is THE most notable M.U.S.C.L.E. event of 2009. U of M has the potential to be just as huge a resource to the collecting group as NathansMusclePage.com is, and has gotten off to a very quick start.
#5 – Same song, different verse. I have a great deal of respect for Darrin, but he starts a new short-lived site every few years. Frankly, I think he is and has been burnt out for quite some time now. Darrin will always be the grand-daddy of the online MUSCLE group, but I really don’t expect anything new and earth shaking from him again. The MPS was AWESOME, but it is now long gone.
#6 – Nice discovery. Once of many this year.
#7 – Very, very kewl. But just another repro with another gimmick.
#8 – Another repetitive scenario. M.U.S.C.L.E.s go high, M.U.S.C.L.E.s go low.
#9 – Non-event. When it resurfaces, that might be eventful. But really, the only interesting thing about MDB going down for a facelift is that Alex (arforbes) can’t falsely manipulate color MUSCLE population numbers to attempt to justify his insane eBay prices.
Th-th-th That’s all folks!

#10- Jason completes his set and even manages to get his very own SC in ’09! : D

I vote for #4. This site has proved to be one of the most important MUSCLE sites out there. The level of detail these articles go into is just crazy. It’s definitely a great resource.
I think that #3 is a close second, though. Anytime a new Super Rare is discovered is a big deal.

DEFINITELY not 5 LOL!! Nothing ground breaking here, just a blog I quickly threw together to keep me better connected to my M.U.S.C.L.E. and Kinnikuman peeps.
I still want to improve upon The M.U.S.C.L.E. Blog design, and will continue to plug away with it. And… don’t count count me out just yet in regards to not offering anything new to the M.U.S.C.L.E. community. This old dog still has some life in him.
As for the most important development, I’d say it has to be the UofM launch. What an awesome resource in a fun and fresh format!
I’ve got to say though.. seeing counterfeit M.U.S.C.L.E.’s made for stuffing pinatas got a fire burning inside of me that makes me want to go bootleg hunting!

My vote is the dicovery of a new Super Rare. Hands down.

I would easily say #4, both for it’s one time significance and the long term positive impact it’s having. It’s quickly becoming an institution of the MUSCLE community. #6 I see as a great argument in favor of #4.

I’d say it’s #6– Not only the website being a repository and complement to Nate’s page, but also that the hope that connections will be made that further illuminate everything behind the scenes of the hobby.

The grape tree is cool, but the biggest event had to be the end of LRG store and the massive Ebay auction of 1000 differnet M.U.S.C.L.E.s IMO!
