M.U.S.C.L.E. Figure Collection

“A” M.U.S.C.L.E. Dilemma
By Professor Terry

This week I’m writing about “A” dilemma I have. The “A” being a Class A dilemma.

For years I have kept all my M.U.S.C.L.E. figures in 2 large containers with each color segregated from the others. 4 colors per container. I have well over 1400 different figures in there.

So then Chad goes and lists a huge amount of French Canadian 4 Packs on eBay and you must have been living under a rock if you missed them. Multiple Class A figures in many. I already had a French Canadian 4 pack with 2 Class A figures inside.

(Editor’s Note: I was one of said people under rock. 😳 )

I have never been tempted to open this 4 pack. The reason being is that the 2 Class A figures within it were already in my collection box. So I have no intention of opening this to sell or trade the figures, nor do I want to sell the complete 4 pack. It’s a great piece of M.U.S.C.L.E. history with the French text on the pack. I love that about it. The damage left by a price tag of some sort was also already there when I bought it.

And back to Chad’s French Canadian listings. There were 4 I was interested in that had figures contained in them that were not in my collection. The plan was to win the ones I wanted and open the packs to add the figures to the rest of my collection within my boxes. I saw no harm in opening them as the packs had price tags on them so to me not in mint condition.

I won 2 of the packs I was after, 2 Class A figures in each so 4 in total I didn’t have. The packs arrived in great shape apart from the price tags.

Something stopped me from trading them open. Looking at the price tag it seemed I may be able to remove it. I gave it a shot and found I was able to remove the price tag without damaging the 4 pack. Here is the before and after shot:

This is where my dilemma is. I now have a near mint unpunched French Canadian 4 pack and 1 that is punched. Do I open this to add the figures to the rest of my collection or keep these in a seperate place? I still own the figures, they are still in my house.

Does it count when they aren’t in with my loose figures? To have a Master Set do all the figures need to be together? May sound stupid but sometimes I have thoughts that my collection isn’t complete because they aren’t all together.

On the flip side could someone build a decent sized unique figure collection just in 4 packs?

Please comment below on what you would do. I have not opened either 4 pack at this point in time.

I would leave them MOC for now. If you eventually hit the master set, there’s a good chance you’ll have these figures loose by then anyhow.
