Many organizations have a mission and/or vision. All too often this is something that is an idle part of their website or something posted around the building that becomes unnoticeable white noise.
The goal of the University of M.U.S.C.L.E. is to create a compelling view of a desired future state that describes what the University of M.U.S.C.L.E. will be accomplishing. This vision will become the University of M.U.S.C.L.E.’s “true north” by which all major decisions and directions are reckoned. This is not a fantasy, but it grounded in the strengths and economic realities in which the University of M.U.S.C.L.E. exists; however, it is a guide to the future the University of M.U.S.C.L.E. wants to create.
A common mistake leaders make is to conceive a vision and strategy on their own, then announce it to the group and ask for feedback. Similar to the pre-work for the M.U.S.C.L.E. Figure Guide – Peer Review, the vision will be created with the help of some University of M.U.S.C.L.E. community members.
If you would like to be a part of this process, then please email the University of M.U.S.C.L.E. as soon as possible. The goal is to have an edited first draft by February 1st, 2010 and a final version by February 17th, 2010.
