Auction Watch #59

Words like “best” or “worst” are used as lazy adjectives. People state a piece of piece of pizza was the “best they ever had” when they really mean it was “very delicious.” Auction Watch #59 is not one of those situations. The word “worst” is not used for dramatic effect. The following auction is the worst M.U.S.C.L.E. related auction ever.

The auction, Muscle men, features the Green #1 figure from MUSCLEMANIA. It is not uncommon for non-collectors to mix-up M.U.S.C.L.E. figures and MUSCLEMANIA figures. It is certainly a forgivable indiscretion.

However, just about everything else in the auction is terrible:

1. The seller has zero feedback.
2. The opening bid price is terrible.
3. The shipping seems excessive.
4. The figure appears dirty.
5. The picture is not terribly clear.
6. The auction description is uninformative and incorrect.
7. The figure is badly damaged.

The auction description states, “1 muscle men in good condition. vintage 1980’s green rare!

Ignoring the grammatically incorrect beginning of the description, the figure is hardly in good condition. The protruding cord appears to have been cut off the figure. Thankfully the seller does know the figure is from the 1980’s and that it is green – which is easily the highlight of this auction.

And the pièce de résistance is the proclamation, “rare!”

This figure will not sell.

What #1 should look like

It’s possible that some collectors disagree. It is also possible that some collectors would prefer a more positive focus to Auction Watch. And some collectors might just want to see cool stuff.

In the interest of attempting to satisfy all of those collectors, a few palate cleansing auctions. It is important to note that all of these actions give 100% of their proceeds to Japanese Relief Efforts.
