This week saw the introduction of the Satan Cross Index (SCI), so it seemed fitting to highlight the sale of a Satan Cross figure. After ~25 hours of work, someone in Mexico City could have a legitimate chance of winning this figure.
The auction titled, SATANCROSS 80s vintage M.U.S.C.L.E. muscle men wrestler, has done two of the most important things in selling a Satan Cross figure:
1. The have provided excellent pictures to allow the buyer a complete view of the figure (be prepared to see this picture again).
2. They have started with an enticingly low starting bid of $1.99.
The pictures are just fantastic. They offer a comprehensive view of the figure. The bidder is able to see that the sword is connected to the upper right hand. The figure also appears to be quite clean. The rear view of the figure does show a blue mark, as stated in the auction’s description, “Figure is clean, only has small blue mark on back of left wing.”
Flesh figures often have blue marks on their backs from the blue card of the 4-Pack. It is not entirely clear if the blue is from the 4-pack card or a pen/marker/dirt-type mark.
This low bid brings in both novice collectors hoping to purchase the romanticized figure and experienced collectors hoping to purchase the figure at a low price – and then gouge an inexperienced or impatient collector at another time.
Using the information from Economics 200 this figure will likely sell for approximately $30, however single Satan Cross figures often sell for more than this amount. Bidders seem unable to resist this figure’s siren-like call.
Follow-Up: The Satan Cross sold for $26.25, very close to the approximately $30 prediction.
