Admittedly, this may not be the most interesting update ever. However, tracking the final price of auctions serves a few purposes. It provides collectors with a resource to look at the final price of similar auctions. This information shouldn’t serve as a “price guide” but it hopefully helps collectors, and even sellers, get a better sense of what some items have sold for previously.
It also holds the University of M.U.S.C.L.E. accountable for any predictions – which should also help sellers and collectors. When the predictions are largely accurate it should suggest that the price of the M.U.S.C.L.E. item has remained consistent for a number of years. If the prediction is far off, then it may suggest: (1) something about the auction was unusual; (2) the price/value of an item may be changing; and/or (3) the prediction can’t always right. The latter may seem obvious, but those three factors hopefully provide users with additional insight into auction prices.
The update also helps to prepare for the yearly Auction Watch Review (2009, 2010). And hopefully it’s just fun to know too!
