Auction Watch #119

The first auction, 25+ MUSCLE Men kinnikuman figures Lot used m u s c l e toy wrestler, is just terrible. Everything about it is laughable – the opening price, the shipping, the pictures, and the Buy-It-Now price. Well, almost everything.

The two figures in the bottom right corner of the main auction picture are very interesting. The dark figure is a complete mystery, but the white one looks like it could be a M.U.S.C.L.E. tweak.

Of course, it’s all a moot point with such outrageous pricing. This auction will not sell, but it is a pretty fun one for collectors to take a look at.

The second auction, Vintage Muscle Men Toy Figure Lot Flesh & Colored Mattel, is an auction that is probably overlooked by many M.U.S.C.L.E. collectors – and understandably so.

The lot isn’t terribly exciting. It is essentially a small lot of figures. However there are two small gems in there for the right collectors. The first is the Red #2 MUSCLEMANIA figure. The second is what looks to be a warped #222.

Neither figure is likely to ignite a bidding war, but the right collectors would be very excited to add those figures to their collections. The final price of the second auction will be $13.50.

The third auction, http://www.ebay.com/itm/1985-Mattel-M-U-S-C-L-E-Men-Mail-away-Poster-35-x-23-W-ORG-SHIP-TUBE-/271106880867, looks to be another original M.U.S.C.L.E. poster mailing tube and poster.

Lately it feels as if these tubes have been showing up with a fair degree of regularity. But that is a good thing for collectors. Sadly, in this case the tube alone is the jewel. The poster accompanying the tube looks to be in pretty rough condition.

The final price of the third auction will be $70.

If the second auction appealed to a specific niche of M.U.S.C.L.E. collectors, then the fourth auction, Huge M.U.S.C.L.E. Lot w/ Over 125 Figures and Board Game RARE, is the equivalent of winning they Super Bowl – to an even smaller niche of M.U.S.C.L.E. collectors.

Overall the lot is just a larger size lot with the board game. Not bad, but probably not too exciting either. The prize pieces of this auction are sprinkled throughout the auction pictures.

The auction looks to feature eight Frankenstein-like Amalgam figures. Not a complete set, but certainly a wonderful jumping off point for new collectors. More seasoned collectors of the FLAF figures will appreciate the unique colors of the figures.

The FLAF figures of the fourth auction certainly shine. The winner of the auction will have a nice little collection of them, plus a nice lot of M.U.S.C.L.E. toys too. The final price of the fourth auction will be $82.50.
