The belt featured in this auction is the second version of the packaging. Most collectors would acknowledge that the original window-box version was much more attractive – mainly because it showcased the gold buckle.
This auction is notable because the box appears to be in very good condition and still sealed. Unfortunately, the description of the item is very limited:
M.U.S.C.L.E. BATTLIN’ BELT MIB 1985. MATTEL NO. 2793 M.U.S.C.L.E. BATTLIN’ BELT. MINT IN BOX. 1985. UNOPENED BOX. CHECK OUT OUR OTHER ITEMS ON E-BAY AND IN OUR STORE NOW.
With such a vague description, it is also unnerving to read:
PLEASE CHECK PHOTO. E-MAIL WITH QUESTIONS. YOU ARE BUYING AS IS.
The 99.9% feedback certainly adds a comfortable feeling, but hankdog1938’s overall feedback could worry some potential buyers. Of course, any frequent user of eBay knows that having been active on eBay since 2002 (like hankdog1938) you will eventually come across some peculiar people.
It is also positive that hankdog1938 has taken some pretty decent pictures of the box. They are not perfectly comprehensive, but better than most sellers.
The Battlin’ Belt is usually something only the “completist” collector covets. However, will the seemingly high quality condition of this box, it may also bring in the APA-grading type of collector (not that it would rate especially high). It may also intrigue the collector looking to upgrade the boxed belt in their own collection.
The predicted final auction price will be $32.00.
Follow-Up: The final price of the auction was $31.00, which was only $1 less than predicted.
