So this week has a warning and suggestion.
First, the warning. The price of Satan Cross is probably the most discussed price for M.U.S.C.L.E. collectors. Regardless of quantifiable data and/or anecdotal data the sale price for a single Satan Cross often hovers around $50. This auction, Vintage! Muscle Man, 236 Missing from Poster! Extremely Rare! Must See!, is notable because of its price – for a terribly damaged Satan Cross figure.
M.U.S.C.L.E. figures are some of the hardiest collectible toys. Significant damage to a M.U.S.C.L.E. figures takes a great deal of effort – like damaging a marble. So a damaged Satan Cross would be worth significantly less than the average Satan Cross. This figure would be better off as custom fodder for a talented customizer.
This auction will not sell. The suggestion from this week’s Auction Watch is to look outside of eBay. While it will always be a great resource there are more M.U.S.C.L.E. related items than most people recognize. One of the easiest and least expensive options is the #153 keychain from Mishka NYC – Mishka NYC (Keychain: Monster Hand Pewter).
And don’t forget the lots of other talented people that offer a M.U.S.C.L.E.-like fix in many forms:
– Adam Pratt
– The Godbeast
– Imperfecz Toys
– OMFG! figures
– Plastic Playhouse
– Mandarake
– Rampage Toys
These might require a little more effort:
– Art Junkie
– CCP
If any person or store was omitted, then please accept sincere apologies. But if a person or store was omitted, then please post it in the Comments section below!
Follow-Up: The damaged Satan Cross figure shockingly sold. Looking at the feedback of the buyer, they seem very comfortable inexplicably over paying for very common M.U.S.C.L.E. items.
