Monday Morning M.U.S.C.L.E. Musings #122

Giant Bandai Figure Update
By Professor Terry

Well, I find it hard to believe it’s been 5 years since my first MMMM post! I remember how it started by my asking Chad whether I could contribute to the website. I’m pretty sure I asked him more than once as well and to be honest I don’t think it was an easy decision for him to allow an outsider from Australia that he hasn’t met write regular posts on his website. For that alone I am truly grateful. I really didn’t think it would last this long and though it’s been five years, we are only onto MMMM #122 but things other than M.U.S.C.L.E. happen in our lives. Chad has missed time. I have missed time and we both have busy work lives. I have loved every moment of this experience and like to think I’ve grown somewhat as a writer/poster.

So onto MMMM #122, an update on these new release giant Bandai Kinnikuman figures. Firstly, apologies for the location of the photo’s this week. These figures are so large they just wouldn’t fit into my normal white background photographing space. Hell, I can’t even photograph them in my toy room as I haven’t found a suitable place yet. So they are pictured in my games room. They are really that huge. How huge? Try 18 inches tall (45cm for those using the metric system) They are also about 18 inches wide with their arms out as well. So the space they take up is considerable.

Secondly, I don’t normally do updates to MMMM posts, and so soon as well but I feel the new Akuma Shogun needs to be included. So this really is a MMMM #119A rather than MMMM #122. If Bandai release another giant figure soon then I’m screwed 😃

The Akuma Shogun figure in this series, a series now with 3 figures, is damn impressive. He’s 18 inches tall (and wide) like the other 2 figures but much heavier and brilliantly painted in a metallic finish, both the silver and red portions. I was so impressed I won the very first Yahoo Japan listing on the figure. Surprisingly, I only paid $87, quite a deal less than the other 2 figures.

Now I’m not a huge fan of the Akuma Shogun figure normally though I do own a few now. I do however, love anything M.U.S.C.L.E. or Kinnikuman and the Japanese just keep producing this figure in awesome color schemes that force me to buy it. That’s what I keep telling myself anyway. How can I pass up a figure that looks as impressive as this? My problem now is finding somewhere to display it. Currently he displays standing on my Spinjas Battle Stadium, not the ideal place but the surface is just flat enough for him to stand.

So there we are, hope you enjoyed the update!
