Monday Morning M.U.S.C.L.E. Musings #59

Bane Satan (M.U.S.C.L.E. figure #190)
by Professor Terry

This week I’m going to discuss a M.U.S.C.L.E. figure that seems to be common, but really isn’t all that common. It is M.U.S.C.L.E. figure #190, with a Kinnikuman name of Bane Satan.

To me this figure is called Cyclops, I don’t even know what Bane Satan means. Doing a quick Google search didn’t help and the closest I got was this:

Satan is too cool and notably the best known troll in the history of the universe, given the most names out of any supernatural entity, even God. He is also falsely believed to be the bane of good. He has admitted to being the bane of good, but since he is a liar he is then necessarily not anything he claims to be.

Seeing Satan has claimed to be the Bane of Good, then Bane Satan is the opposite? Looking up the Japanese translation I got “Spring Satan” So this figure is Satan in spring only? I’m confused 🙂

Back to the figure itself, it comes in only 5 colors. None of which really stand out for me and that might be my problem with this figure. It doesn’t stand out but somehow looks kind of cool. My guess is that it’s a flame sword he’s holding which is awesome. However, his Devo/Clamshell helmet doesn’t appeal to me.

I’m also pretty sure I’ve seen the body of this figure used to make a Darth Vader custom.

Bane Satan does not appear in ANY other Kinnikuman line of toys and I have no clue where he fits into that story. In M.U.S.C.L.E. he is found quite often in 4- and 10-packs. I have seen countless flesh ones in my time but the color ones don’t seem as common. Maybe it’s because he is manufactured in five colors compared to many other figures having more colors.

My feelings on this figure are mixed. I like his sword and single eye, but not much else. Yet I went and sought out his green Class A as there is something about this figure that caused me to want all five colors and display him on my shelves.

It’s Gan Satan – i.e. Eye Satan. He was a henchman in one of the movies, and fought Warsman.
