Monday Morning M.U.S.C.L.E. Musings #94

The Super 7 M.U.S.C.L.E. Street Fighter II figures
By Professor Terry

A little while ago for MMMM #79, I wrote about the Super 7 Master of The Universe M.U.S.C.L.E. figures.

I have now received the 1st series of the Street Fighter II version and thought it would be a good opportunity to discuss those.

The packaging, although it does say M.U.S.C.L.E. is very Street Fighter like with the brick wall background. Still, I was impressed with the packaging.

The set itself so far contains 12 figures in flesh color. I’ll get the negative out of the way first and state that the color is not M.U.S.C.L.E. flesh but closer to 1991 Kinkeshi flesh for those familiar with that line. In fact, I’m fairly certain no figure line since M.U.S.C.L.E. has been able to replicate the original flesh color.

Now then, the figures themselves. As you can see by the comparison picture, the Street Fighter figures are a good deal chunkier than a M.U.S.C.L.E. #235 (Terri-Bull Ring figure). They look really good that way in fact. I really hope they expand into some colored figures and add a similar premise to what M.U.S.C.L.E. did and that’s have different poses for the 12 characters in additional figures.

These figures are well detailed and in my opinion, much better than the MOTU figures that were released previously. Because it’s tied to a video game, I believe there is more scope to be adventurous with the poses if Super 7 so wish.

I will not be opening these packs but will in time purchase a loose set as well so I can display with my Japanese Street Fighter Keshi and SD Keshi figures.

The rebranded MUSCLES are more in line with the Ultimate Muscle “Micro Muscle Wrestlers” than the original Keshi. They have the ‘micro’ proportions, but are not ‘super-deformed.’
