Frankenstein-like Amalgam Figures – Names or Numbers?

The M.U.S.C.L.E. collector community is comparatively smaller than many collecting communities. And when a M.U.S.C.L.E. collector starts to focus on a specific niche the number of peers drops significantly. Such is the case with collectors of Frankenstein-like Amalgam figures.

Seemingly one of the greatest barriers to entry for many collectors is the lack of common language. When collectors are able to simple refer to a #10 or “the Claw” they are able acquire figures – even if they’ve never seen the figure.

The lack of common language makes “Need Lists” nearly impossible to construct or share and it makes it nearly impossible to specifically search or sell on eBay.

The question becomes: How should Frankenstein-like Amalgam figures be specifically identified?

There are probably two realistic and obtainable options: (1) numbers; and (2) collector assigned names. Identifying numbers does not seem appropriately fun for such an enjoyable group of figures. And if names are going to be used, then it will be up to collectors.

Submit your potential figure names, in the Comments section below, for any of the 13 figures listed. Voting on the figure names will start next week.

#1- Great Emperor Spiderhorn (reminds me of Raoh, but with 8 limbs)

#3- Ricky the Lone Wolf Ninja (Rikishi Man aka Wolf Man + The Ninja)

#5- Iron Claw (seems like a villain from some tokusatsu villain)

#8- Naked Mask (because he is in his undies and socks and is still wearing a hood)

I have always liked the idea of simply combining the names of the source figures into it’s own frankenstein-esque conglomeration.

To further simplify the concept, the name fragment should be placed in the order of their appearance, from the top of the head and downward.

    For example:
    1. Ashuraloman
    2. Ninjaloman
    3. Rikinja
    4. Terrykid
    5. Rokon
    6. Ukoballer
    7. Akumoko
    8. Ninshiman
    9. Bukashi ( I think that’s Buka’s[104] head, though maybe slightly altered?)
    12. Ashura Mask
    13. Rikendaman

In the cases of 10 and 11, they are somewhat unique within the frankenstein category.

    10. Samson Cross??
This is just the Samason Teacher with two of his own arms duplicated. He has been combined…with himself?

    11. Not sure I can identify where the gimp leg was sourced from, but Stumps really does seem to fit.

As a post script, you might notice that this system is not perfect.

    Buffaloman + Ashuraman’s Father = Buffaloman’s Father?

And trying to distinguish between Buffaloman and Buffalaman might lead to confusion, therefore the name fragments have been further reorganized to give the name a more reasonable flow.

Overall, though, I think that the combining the source names for Frankenstein figures is the best way to classify them in a universal manner.

#10 is one of the Lutteurs resculpts. I still suggest “Fat Ash” for his name.
