Hard Knockin’ Rockin’ Ring Wrestling Arena

A wrestling ring accessory makes the most sense for a group of wrestling figures. Mattel recognized they could use some existing parts from Bandai’s release of previous versions of the ring. The box art shows a seemingly metallic clasp. Unfortunately Mattel decided to use a brittle plastic on the figure clamps and this toy was easily broken.

The Discredited Super Rare: X-2, “The Futuristic Goalie”

Brant Snell was the first M.U.S.C.L.E. collector to discover this interesting figure. M.U.S.C.L.E. collectors can become so enthralled with the notion and history of a figure that it can even retain its value after being proven NOT to be a Super Rare figure. This was the case for a figure called X-2 or The Futuristic Goalie.

The Uncropped Catalog Pictures

Uncropped versions of the 1986 Mattel catalog M.U.S.C.L.E. photograph, both from toy industry trade magazines, uncover six previously unseen Kinnikuman figures in the picture. All six, sometimes difficult to see, figures are identified.

Literature 400 has been completed. This course examines the appearance of M.U.S.C.L.E. in toy industry trade magazines, the industry’s reaction to M.U.S.C.L.E., Mattel’s external appearance in 1986, and uncovers two previously unseen M.U.S.C.L.E. pictures.

M.U.S.C.L.E. Battlin’ Belt

The only completely original item produced by Mattel for M.U.S.C.L.E. was a carrying case shaped like a championship wrestling belt. The Battlin’ Belt was positioned as both a carrying case and a wrestling ring. The design of the belt was filled with rather questionable choices.
