The People vs. M.U.S.C.L.E. – Part 2

The People vs. M.U.S.C.L.E. – Part 2 follows the same framework for M.U.S.C.L.E. advertising that had been established the previous year in the two commercials. Sadly, for the final M.U.S.C.L.E. commercial there appears to be a far less focused approach. However, hardcore Color figure collectors likely view this commercial as the single greatest thirty seconds of video ever uncovered.

Auction Watch #30

The M.U.S.C.L.E. poster has been mentioned several times within the University of M.U.S.C.L.E. The most notable examples are within the 28-Pack Poster Offer and with the clarification that there are only only 2 posters. Hopefully the Advertising & Promotion 100 course, highlighting the poster, will be completed soon. In the meantime, this auction for a “Color” poster is worth highlighting.

New Nestle Quik Figures

The University of M.U.S.C.L.E. recently featured two sealed M.U.S.C.L.E. figures from the Nestle Quik promotion in Auction Watch #28. The winner of those two auctions, Bill R. (vette88 from LRG.com), was kind enough to take a picture of each of the sealed figures. These figures have been added to Advertising & Promotion 300.

Auction Watch #28

One of the most mysterious, and fun, aspects of M.U.S.C.L.E. collecting relates to the Nestle Quik promotion (which is examined in Advertising & Promotion 300). Figures still sealed within the promotional package, which was enclosed in the Nestle Quik tin, are not often discovered. This week two figures have been discovered.

M.U.S.C.L.E. Invasion Update

M.U.S.C.L.E. Invasion Update, was clearly designed to air as a second part/episode of the Invasion of the M.U.S.C.L.E. Things commercial. The switch from monsters to wrestling only seems to make sense because the ancillary M.U.S.C.L.E. products are wrestling related. The commercial simply crowbars wrestling into the scenario.

Invasion of the M.U.S.C.L.E. Things

For many collectors the M.U.S.C.L.E. commercials created incredible interest and excitement. However, the choices made about the direction of the M.U.S.C.L.E. commercials are especially interesting – but also seem to highlight the confusion that Mattel and their advertising agency had regarding the product.
