Monday Morning M.U.S.C.L.E. Musings #5

Professor Terry has been doing Monday Morning M.U.S.C.L.E. Musings for four weeks. It only took four weeks before he missed a week. That’s only one post a week – with, quite frankly, diminishing results.

The “musings” kept getting shorter and shorter. Honestly, I thought it would only get stronger. He would find his voice and rhythm and just keep improving. But he hasn’t yet.

But that’s ok. When it comes to M.U.S.C.L.E. I am inappropriately patient. Probably patient to a fault and not just with others but with myself too. I have faith in Terry. I know Dr. M.U.S.C.L.E.will someday be finished. I’m patient with others, because I know how delinquent I can be too.

I have an OMFG UK order that is still sitting on my counter top. I owe another artist a bunch of figures. I am an outlier of patience, which can be both good and bad, but patience is a huge part of my M.U.S.C.L.E. collecting experience.

I recently ordered a set of D.E.A.T.H. figures. I had stated that they had made a more negative first impression on me, but I really need them in my hand before I could make a fair judgment. I was not terribly excited to receive the package of D.E.A.T.H. figures, but when I opened it and saw the blind bad – I was excited. I’d be a complete liar if I said otherwise.

I have zero time for myself. Zero. My family, my wife, my work, and even complete bullshit come before me. But those few seconds of opening a package are joyous. That brief moment is for me. That’s why I’m the outlier.

I wholly enjoy those brief seconds; that tiny moment. I don’t care if the figure is rare or one of a kind. I love that moment. And I even like the letdown afterwards, because it always is a letdown.

I spent years hunting for the Nestle Quik tin. I was relentless and vigilant. I wouldn’t be able to hunt with that same ferocity today. And do you know the two best parts? The hunt and opening it. Owning it has been mainly stress. Is it getting too much light? Too much heat? Should it be in a plastic case or a glass case? Should I get a custom case built? Would that custom case builder screw up the tin?

This Monday Morning M.U.S.C.L.E. Musing is different. I hope there aren’t too many like it, because I can’t wait for Professor Terry to return. And my anxiousness for him to return has nothing to do with wanting a post for next Monday. I simply can’t wait to see what he wrote. I can’t wait for that brief moment.
